An impressive testament to the prehistoric world, this perfectly preserved mammoth right femur was discovered in 2016 on the banks of the Wistoka River in Poland. Presented in its natural position, it is one of the longest bones of this mythical animal, which disappeared over 10,000 years ago.

Dimensions : H 130 × W 38 × D 38 cm
Material : Natural fossil bone – wooden base
Origin : Poland, dated to around 10,000 years ago
Unique piece : yes
Use : indoor only

This exceptional specimen bears the distinct bite marks of a prehistoric giant hyena ( Pachycrocuta brevirostris ): a precious rarity in the world of paleontology, testifying to a fossilized scene of struggle and survival. The gnawed surface, still legible, shows where the animal fractured the bone to reach the then highly sought-after marrow.

Mounted on a simple wooden base, this rare natural object becomes a sculptural piece , at the crossroads of art, science and memory.

A raw natural work, to be contemplated like a fragment of living history.
